Karting Hebrides

Karting is a vast sport, with attractions ranging from speed 'n' thrills to learning better driving skills. It's much more flexible than most motor sports but still combines all the elements of professional racing. Karting is often the first step on the ladder to motor racing success, and whether or not you’re a motor racing enthusiast, it’s great fun!

Until recently, the Hebrideans have had to travel to the mainland to enjoy karting. But now the islands have their very own top-notch karting circuit.

Lewis Karting Centre can add an extra bit of excitement to your visit to the Hebrides, whether you just fancy giving it a try, or spending a day improving your racing techniques on a challenging, twisty track, or even treating your employees to a teambuilding session.

Lewis Karting Centre

At 650m long by 6m wide, the Lewis Karting Centre circuit has a long straight, fast and slow bends and two hairpins. It is unusual in that much of it is 'blind', adding to the challenge for drivers. The Karts available for hire are 12 Honda engines in various sizes, suitable for 8-year olds to adults. Also coming soon is a Maclaren-style 2-seater. Electronic transponders are fitted to all Karts, so that accurate lap times can be recorded on the Club's computer.

What to expect...

Your visit to the Lewis Karting Centre starts off with a safety briefing about driving the karts safely and making the best of your time on the track. Then you’ll change in to a professional karting suit and you’ll really start to feel the part - Schumacher eat your heart out! After that, and a bit of formula one or touring car video action to whet your appetite, it’s time to take the wheel - helmet on, rev up and go go go!

Nobody comes off the track without a smile on their face - it’s great fun and you’ll probably find that one go just isn’t enough!

The Karting Centre is also an ideal venue for teambuilding and corporate hospitality. The track can be block booked for day or evening sessions, and at only 2 miles outside Stornoway’s hotels, golf course and conference facilities, and the plethora of outdoor activities available in the Hebrides, it’s ideally placed to be included in a wider teambuilding / corporate hospitality break in the Hebrides.
