Golf Hebrides

Golfing in the Hebrides is unlike anywhere else in Scotland Golfing visitors who play our rural courses describe the experience as original - golf as it used to be: rustic and a little quirky! You won't have to queue for a tee off time, the courses are very playable and offer challenges suitable to all levels, green fees are low, the whole experience is 100% safe and secure, and the local golfers are friendly and welcoming to visitors. Add to this the long daylight hours in summertime, the stunning wild and unspoilt environment and clean, fresh sea air and you are in for a really memorable golfing experience.

Barra: An ingeniously designed 9-hole course at Greian Head, golf here is full of character and charm. Making full use of the natural landscape, there are undulating fairways, rocky outcrops and possibly one of the world's largest bunkers on the fourth hole. A refreshing and exhil-arating day's golf.

Uist: Askernish golf course is an 18 tee/9 hole course situated on the west coast of South Uist. This course was originally laid out by 'Old Tom Morris', on a site which he described as: "second to none in the various elements which go to make up a really good course". The remote location and invigorating air of this course offers a sharp contrast to the overcrowded and highly artificial fairways on the mainland. There is opportunity for variety in the 2 sets of 9 holes as the tees are sufficiently spread.

Harris Golf CourseBenbecula: Another Atlantic facing golf course with incredible views of the Monach Isles. This 18 tee/9 hole course is situated on the beautiful flower carpeted machair lands where birds such as the Corncrake, Oyster Catcher, Lapwing and the Plover breed. Although flat, Benbecula has a few tricky holes to negotiate and natural hazards to complete the challenge!

Harris: Scarista golf course is legendary for its stunning setting and challenging situation. Positioned on the machair above brilliant white sands and overlooking the famous island of Taransay, the views are breathtaking. With a layout of 9 holes you may think it's an easy option but the small greens, massive sand dunes and ever-present Atlantic winds combine for an enjoyable challenge. The course was once played by Nick Faldo and the green fee that he signed and deposited in the honesty box is now called the 'Faldo Fiver'. This 'fiver' is competed for annually within the club.

Stornoway Golf CourseLewis: While the other courses are coastal machair turf, Stornoway Golf Course is located in the grounds of Lews Castle, where the land is moorland/parkland. There are great panoramic views of Stornoway Harbour and the Minch from this 18 hole golf course which is well designed and professionally maintained. At 5250 yards there are numerous hazards for wayward shots including mature trees, heather and gorse. After a challenging day's golf you can relax in the newly refurbished clubhouse where there are full facilities such as golf shop with club hire, lockers, changing rooms and a welcoming and friendly bar.
